Introducing the Responsible Technology Toolkit

This course explores the world of responsible technology. It’s a term that I’ll be using in a broad and inclusive sense, encompassing work in related fields such as ‘Design Justice’, ‘Trust and Safety’, and ‘AI Ethics’.

Researchers, technologists and designers from a wide range of backgrounds have been drawn to these topics in increasing numbers in recent years. Many of them have been motivated by a desire to address the negative consequences of technology. And their work sits at the fascinating intersection of technology and human values.

Getting started in responsible technology can be tricky. But members of this movement have been creating tools, frameworks and principles that can help everyone build fairer digital services – for people, society and planet. I’ve created this course to help designers, developers, product managers and other makers bring some of these ideas into their own work.
